For once a quiz that I agree with the result LOL!

Yes,this is me!

Your result for The Fan Fiction Personality Test...

The True Fan

OOC is blasphemy, canon is everything.

Once you fall in love with a movie, book or TV series, you are loyal like an old dog. You take fanfiction quite seriously and use it as a substitute after the canon ran out.

You are probably a walking dictionary of your favourite fandom and you are picky about what you write and read. The closer to the "real thing" fanfiction is, the more you like it.

You rather explore a character in all depth, see new sides and learn more about them than creating new characters or mix up the situations they are in.

Fic: Never Again - Chapter 4 (PG)

Chapter 4: Exploring the Darkness Together

“It was not funny, Legolas!” Gimli grumbled, annoyed at the highly amused, irritating elven prince beside him. He would never live this down, never! Somehow he would have to make the elf forget about the morning’s chaos. Walking faster towards their destination seemed a start. If Legolas was out of breath, he would not be able to laugh. Forget that the elf never seemed to be out of breath.

So sorry for the delay in posting this. The story is almost completely written but the holidays and MEFAs have kept me so busy I forgot to update this! Part Three
Suspicions and Doubts

Gilraen hurried to the healing ward after receiving word that Estel had been hurt. Oh! The trouble little boys got into! She hoped he was not crying for her. He tried so hard to be a big boy, but he was little more than a baby. When he got hurt, he cried out for her and usually fought off any attempts to treat whatever minor injuries he had sustained (usually scrapes and scratches and smashed fingers or toes) until she arrived. MEFA Results
[info]silivren_tinu
Well, I really have to say even if none of my stories had placed among the winners I would not have been disappointed. I was quite overwhelmed by the number of reviews I got for my stories - it was something I certainly never expected and it makes me ridiculously happy. *g* Thank you so much to everyone who read and reviewed my stories, and also to those who tried or wrote non-MEFA reviews instead! *huggles readers and reviewers*

I'm glad I was able to actively participate in the MEFAs this year for the first time. Even if I didn't reach my reviewing goals (and am still feeling bad about it), this is the first time I plucked up the courage to review anything in the MEFAs at all, and I'm happy about it. 41 written reviews are certainly better than nothing. :)

Here are my results:

Gifts from the Heart - First Place in Genres: Character Study: Aragorn
Of Orcs, Rangers, and Peach Pie - Honorable Mention in Genres: Drama: Aragorn
Like a Bird in the Sky - Honorable Mention in Genres: Drama: Later Age Elves
The Fading Flower - Honorable Mention in Times: Ring War: Quest of the Ring

mefa mefa mefa mefa

I'm especially surprised "Gifts from the Heart" has done so well! I'm not saying that because I think the story is bad (I'm actually quite fond of it *g*), but once I had seen that the story had been placed in a category with nothing but adult-Aragorn fics for company, I was pretty sure it wouldn't stand a chance. ;-) The same goes for "Of Orcs, Rangers, and Peach Pie", which ended up in a category with only the best of the best - I'm amazed it managed to get a Honorable Mention. ;-) "Like a Bird in the Sky" is a story which will always be close to my heart, so I'm very happy it got some recognition. :)

Congrats to all of you who participated in the MEFAs, whether you won something or not! It's really amazing how many extremely talented people there are in this fandom (and how many of them are on my f-list *g*)!

MEFA Thank you!
[info]inzilbeth_3319
I'm absolutely  thrilled that 'Aspects of Aragorn' won its category in the MEFA's. I am really surprised and grateful so I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who was kind enough to read and review, not only at MEFA but elsewhere too. Many thanks also to Larner for the nomination.  I did rather put all my eggs in one basket with this one, since, as anyone who has read it knows, it is actually 42 individual stories which could possibly have been nominated separately. But, by lumping them together as one long work, I knew I was potentially disadvantaging it since it seems long stories often don't get as many reviews as shorter ones. And when the categories were announced, my fears were confirmed. It  was placed in a category with just ficlets which ranged in length from only 700 to 3,500 words. I was, therefore, quite resigned to seeing my 170,000 word 'epic' which had taken me four years to write, soundly beaten! My delight, and yes, relief, that it not only won, but by, what they call in racing, 'a distance,' reflects, I think, that I actually cared far more about this than I was prepared to admit, even to myself. This really was my one big work and I'm not sure I'll ever write another. So I really can't express my thanks enough. And, at the risk of sounding like one of those long winded Oscar winners, my special thanks, as always, goes to the wonderful Cairistiona without whose friendship this story would still be sitting, unread, on my hard drive.

Thank you again to everyone, from the very bottom of my heart.

And on the subject of 'thank you' there is, of course, one person above all who deserves our thanks. Don't forget that today is the Professor's birthday and fans around the world will be raising their glasses for the Birthday Toast.

To the Professor! Thank you for creating such a wonderful world for us all to play in!

2009 MEFA Results
[info]nierielraina
Well, it's official. The MEFAs are done for the year and the results have started trickling in around LJ. Congratulations to all the authors for their various placings! And a huge round of thanks yous to those who nominated my stories and reviewed them!! It may take me a while to get to doing review replies as my work is far from done! ;P Next on the agenda is organizing the customization of all those banner requests! I think I'll be getting very cozy with Photoshop in the next couple of weeks. ;)

So...my results. First of all I must say that I came very close to declining my nominations this year for various reasons. It has been an extremely rough year for me both in RL and in the fandom. I have learned a LOT in both avenues about people, friendships and myself. I won't bore you with the details, but I am very glad I decided to go ahead and let the nominations stand. And not due to the final results. I honestly did not think the stories nominated this year would place, so I was delighted by the response I got to many of the stories, most especially What's For Dinner? (The reviews kept coming in for that and the responses were a lot of fun to read. Not surprising, I suppose, considering the subject matter! LOL!) and for A Song That Was (This story is very dear to me so to see it getting so many lovely comments gave me a lump in my throat!)

So, while I am very excited about the end results (Yes, I'm getting to those! Give me a minute!) what meant the most to me was the reviews that were left by so many lovely people; the kind words and praise over the past months lifted my spirits, often on days where I really needed the pick me up. So Thank You very much to everyone who reviewed because the comments were what truly made this awards a rewarding experience. :)

Okay, on to the results!

Follow the Sun received an Honorable Mention in Genres: Character Study: Final Partings

A Trickle of Green Ribbon received an Honorable Mention in Genres: Character Study: General

What's For Dinner? received Second Place in Genres: Character Study: Friendship

A Song That Was received First Place in Genres: Character Study: Angst

Thank you so much to Aearwen, Jael, Linda Hoyland, Nautika and Peredhil lover for nominating me! And thank you again to all who reviewed!

Now.... Who needs a banner??? *runs screaming from crazed MEFA winners waving banner requests*

*g*

***Seriously - Banner requests can be made to the following MEFA post here***

Happy New Year!
[info]inzilbeth_3319
I just received an email from a farming friend wishing me a happy New Year, and specifically, one free from floods, droughts and plagues!

It made me realise we farmers really do send far too much of our lives worrying about exactly these things. Seems like there is always either too much rain or too little and there's on end to the deadly illnesses on the horizon set to invade and apparently wipe out all the stock. Such are the joys of rearing animals!

Maybe this year will be different. So, as Shakespeare once said [though don't ask me where] may your ewes graze and your lambs suckle!

Happy New year everyone!

AA Prompt fic - Warm
[info]lindahoyland
The characters belong to the Tolkien Estate and this ficlet was written for
pleasure not profit.

"What happened? Shoulder hurts-my head!" Faramir opened his eyes and saw Aragorn
kneeling beside him, and was aware of the King checking his pulse. Reassured, he
closed them again.

"You were wounded in the skirmish."

Faramir grabbed frantically at Aragorn's sleeve. "Who won the day?"

"We did, mellon nîn, thanks to your courage. Easy now. You are safe. We took
shelter in a barn while we wait for Beregond to bring help."

Faramir lay back. He appeared to be lying on a makeshift bed of straw He
realised he was wearing only his breeches and boots. His upper body was bandaged
and covered with a cloak.

He felt Aragorn pull aside the coverings and a comforting, healing warmth from
the King's hands permeate his injured shoulder."

"Is that easier now?" Aragorn's tone was full of concern.

"Thank you. So cold here!" Faramir could not stop his teeth from chattering as
he spoke.

"You have a fever," Aragorn said. "Come, drink this." Supporting Faramir's head,
he held a cup to his lips.

Faramir's fuddled brain recognised the bitter taste of willow bark, a proven
remedy for fever. He forced himself to swallow the bitter brew.

"Very good," Aragorn offered another draught, this time plain water.

"Is it safe here for you?" Faramir fretted. "What if the enemy returns?"

"We routed them, and just in case any are fool enough to want to taste our
swords again, there are guards outside the door. Beregond was most insistent.
Now go to sleep until he returns"

"Too cold," Faramir murmured fretfully.

Aragorn did not say anything. Instead, he lay down beside Faramir on his
uninjured side and enfolded him in warm arms. Removing his cloak, he spread over
them both. His warm hands chafed Faramir's cold ones.

"There, does that feel any better?"

Faramir  settled and rested his head against Aragorn's shoulder. After a few moments he
sighed contentedly. "Much, but you will be cold now?"

"Not half as cold as I would be if I allowed any harm to come to you! Remember,
I promised both our ladies that we would return to them together in one piece.
They will have me sleep in the stables henceforth if I do not keep my word!"

"Éowyn might when you came to visit, but surely not your lady?" Faramir murmured
sleepily.

"Arwen would take it very ill if any harm came to the man who saved her
husband's life! Do you not recall that arrow you took was meant for me?"
Aragorn's voice was slightly unsteady as he held Faramir more tightly. "How
could I lose such a gallant foolish friend either?"

Faramir did not reply as he had fallen asleep. Aragorn felt his friend's
forehead; the fever was abating. Faramir would recover. He offered a silent
prayer of thanks to the Valar.

A/N I haven't really time for prompt writing what with last minute MEFA reviews
and my dragon story and angsty potboiler, but I had a craving to write some h/c,
which I could not resist to cheer myself up while I was having problems with my connection.
Tolkien wrote that Aragorn still had to fight many
battles after the Ring War so this is the aftermath of one of them.
I intend to polish and enlarge this at a later date.

FIC: This Side of Paradise Chapter 2 (PG-13)

Chapter 1

Part Two: Lending a Hand

Arwen walked, lost in thought and paying no heed to her steps. The initial flurry of activity had ceased since Frodo arrived near death. But the hobbit improved, and now she wondered when his guide would arrive. Was Aragorn alright? Had he been injured? She could not help but worry about her beloved as the not knowing ate at her heart.

"Oh!" She stumbled back a step as something bumped into her and soft cloths tumbled to the floor.

"Oh, my apologies, my lady!" Ivornel, one of the chambermaids, gasped as her eyes met Arwen's. "Please, forgive me! I did not see you!"

Arwen smiled kindly as the servant set the basket she had been carrying on the floor. Ivornel scrambled with one hand to pick up the few towels that had fallen when they collided.

"It is all right, Ivornel. I was not paying attention to my own steps." She paused, noting the chambermaid's awkward fumbling due to a smaller basket slung over the maid's other arm. "Is Thalawest working you too hard, Ivornel? You are carrying far more than usual. Has he become so hard a taskmaster?"

Ivornel looked up, struggling to regain her feet with both baskets. "He is kind as always, my lady. But there is so much going on. New guests arrived today! There is simply too much to do. Oh!" She lost her hold on the basket and it thumped back to the floor, the newly retrieved towels tumbling out again. "Perhaps it is a bit much."

Arwen held back a laugh at the other's comical look of dismay. "It is indeed. Mayhap I can give you a hand with it? Where are the towels to be delivered?"

"Oh no, my lady! It would not be proper!" Ivornel cried out as she stooped to collect the fallen cloths.

"Nonsense! I am not above doing a bit of work. It is not as if carrying a few towels will even cause me to break into a sweat." She knelt and picked up the last towel, refolding it and placing it back in the basket along with the others Ivornel had folded. "Now, you just tell me where to deliver them, and then you can get on with your other chores."

"Thank you, my lady," the maid replied with a sigh of relief. "They are to go to the east bathing chamber. Gaeras is opening that room up for some of the guests, and he would like it stocked and ready should they wish to bathe. The towels just need to be set on the shelf." She curtsied. "I appreciate your help, my lady. It is a great relief!"

"It is nothing," Arwen assured her. "Now, be off with you! I can handle carrying a basket of towels to the East Wing." And so saying, she lifted the wicker and set it against her hip. Turning around, she made her way to the eastern side of the Last Homely House with a smile on her lips.

She entered the bathing room and was surprised to see a lantern lit the room, then her eyes fell to the occupied tub in the center of the room. Her eyes widened, then her smile tilted into to a rather wicked smirk. She would enjoy this encounter, that was for certain.

To Be Continued….

Holly - The Holly bears the Crown

Title – The Holly bears the Crown

Author: Linda Hoyland
Characters/Pairing: Arathorn, Gilraen, Ivorwen

Rating: G
Warnings: none
Book/Source: LOTR book-verse

Disclaimer: The characters are the property of the Tolkien estate. This drabble is written for pleasure, not profit.

Custom decreed that the maidens present evergreens to the Chieftain’s heir each Mettarë, that the line of Elendil might be as evergreen as the holly, or ivy or pine.

Arathorn smilingly took a sprig of greenery from each girl before the Midwinter feast began. One maid seemed fairer than the rest. She carried a branch of holly, scarlet berries adorning the glossy leaves.

“My little girl has grown into a fine lass since you saw her last, has she not?” chuckled Ivorwen; her husband remained sombre.

Arathorn’s heart stirred as the girl handed him the branch. Gilraen was indeed fair.
